The State Champions have been crowned as Baseball and Softball tournaments wrapped up last night. In baseball for class 1A, third seeded Saint Ansgar took down Martensdale-St. Mary’s 4-1, in class 2A Pleasantville finished off their 33-1 season with a 9-1 win over Unity Christian. In class 3A it was the Pella Dutch taking down Wahlert Catholic 3-1 and finally in class 4A the Iowa City High Little Hawks taking home their first ever state title in 4-1 win over Bettendorf as Jaxton Schroeder went the full 7 innings striking out 8.
As for State softball, in class 1A Clarksville took down top-seeded Wayne 4-1 while in 2A Van Meter walked off West Lyon in an 8-7 classic in 8 innings. As for class 3A it was Williamsburg taking down the top seed Wahlert Catholic 3-2. In class 4A it was the 8th seeded Pella Dutch taking down the North Polk Comets 4-2 and in class 5A it was the Waukee Northwest Wolves defeating Linn-Mar in a tightly fought 1-0 win in 8 innings as senior Laurel Richards singled into right center to walk it off.
