According to the National Weather Service, Marshalltown saw 12.23 inches of rainfall in the month of July, which is the 2nd most since 1900 only to 1993 when Marshalltown saw 13.64 inches.

That is Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator, Kim Elder.  She then describes what flash flooding is.

Elder says if there is water over the road turn around so you don’t drown.  That is the same idea if water is over a walk way due to a flash flood.

The water will subside, so the best thing people can do is wait or find an alternate route.  Turn around so you don’t drown.
