YSS, a statewide leader in youth behavioral health, is bringing its expertise to the 2025 Iowa State Fair with an eye-opening exhibit designed to raise awareness of youth substance use, and the warning signs that often go unnoticed. People can find YSS on the Grand Concourse outside of the Grandstand, located next to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
They have a trailer called, Hidden in Plain Sight, and it is an interactive exhibit that replicates a typical teen bedroom, where visitors are challenged to identify everyday items that may signal substance use or risky behavior. Youth substance use is often hidden in plain sight. By equipping parents and caring adults with the knowledge to recognize early warning signs, YSS is helping prevent substance use before it escalates.
