Today kicks off the 11 Best Days of summer, the Iowa State Fair.  The gates opened at 8am and Opening Ceremonies is set to start at 9am at the Fun Forest Stage.  Every day during the Fair, Choose Iowa will present a free cooking demonstration at 1pm in The Kitchen inside the Maytag Family Theatre Building. Over the 11 days, the food will feature about 30 Choose Iowa members as well as award-winning chefs and culinary professionals from across Iowa.

Today will feature Chef Ian Robertson of Oak Park Restaurant in Des Moines preparing lamb using ingredients from your own yard.  This will highlight two Choose Iowa members, Sexton Sheep in Rockwell City and Joia Food and Fiber Farm from Charles City.   T

he Kitchen is located on the Grand Concourse between the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) building and the Barksdale’s State Fair Cookies building.
