The Marshalltown City Council discussed an Iowa Economic Development Authority Grant that the city received in 2023.  The grant is a total of $200,000 for the re-treeing of the urban canopy after the derecho.  New Park and Recreation Director Kelsie Stafford shares what the money will be used for.

Stafford shares that there was a total of 5 bids for this project and Alpha Landscape LLC out of Johnston were the low bid of $114,700 and recommendation from the staff.

Accepting the bid from Alpha Landscape leaves just over $80,000 that can still be used to add trees across town.

The Council voted 7 – 0 in favor of this agreement and using the Grant money on this project.
