The Marshalltown Girls Tennis Team went into a massive day of matches in Ankeny against the Hawks, the Indianola Indians, and the Southeast Polk Rams. The Cats were down 3 of their top 7 players, but still managed to pick up a win against Ankeny in a 1-2 day. In the first season of fall tennis action, the Bobcat girls sit at 6-4 on the year, a big difference from their previous season, one that ended without a loss in regular season play. It’s been a grind here as of late for Marshalltown who has played 6 matches in the last 3 days and will get a rematch with Southeast Polk at home on Monday afternoon as the August grind continues. They’ll finish up their 11th match in 25 days before a week-long rest into September.

Bobcat Boys golf took on the Roosevelt Rough Riders and the Ames little Cyclones in a triangular meet on Thursday this past week and it was a tight battle through the final hole. Just 9 strokes separated the three teams as the Little Cyclones shot a 166 while the Cats and Riders tied at 157. It would then go to tiebreakers where the Cats would end up being on the short-end of a 5th-score tiebreaker. The Cats will next take part in the Dick Garth Riverhawk Invitational up in Mason City on the 29th where they’ll see Des Moines Lincoln, Fort Dodge, Waterloo East and West, along with the hosting Riverhawks.
