Executive Director of the Arts and Culture Alliance, Amber Danielson, gave an update to the Marshalltown City Council. Danielson shares that they have rolled out 3 different grant programs this year. The Community Artist Grant and two Artists Innovation Grants to a local artist or organization. She says they received 15 applications for the Community Artist Grant.
His project is called, Gather Around the Table. He is inviting people to explore their own stories of hope identity and the culture of Marshalltown. Recently Singh Sirah was in Marshalltown and his first visit was meeting people and soaking in who we are as a community.
Danielson then talks about the Artist Innovation Grants which had 13 applicants. She says they selected 6 artist and 7 projects totaling nearly $17,000. Danielson highlights one of the projects from Bertha Santillan de Medina.
Danielson says they had 70 people wanting to register for the course but they could only take 30. She says it was mostly mothers in their 30s with their kids signing up. She says they are looking to grow this initiative. Overall, it has been a successful Grant Process and she is excited to see what is next.
