Sunday 7th September 2025

Yesterday was the first day that people in Marshalltown could file paperwork for City and School Board elections.  The period to file paperwork is open now until September 18th.  The city of Marshalltown has multiple races, Mayor, 1st Ward Councilor, 3rd Ward Councilor, and two at-large councilors.  These terms will run from January 1st, 2026 to December 31st, 2029.

Incumbent Mayor Joel Greer has told KFJB that he will not be seeking reelection, but Jeff Schneider, Incumbent At-Large Councilor, has told KFJB he will run for reelection and Greg Nichols has confirmed he will run again in Ward 3.  Candidates must complete an Affidavit of Candidacy and Nomination Petition. There is a minimum number of 75 signatures from signers residing within the ward a candidate is running to represent.

The Marshalltown School Board has all At-large seats and 3 people will be terming off, Karina Hernandez, Leah Stanley, and Zach Wahl.  Candidates interested in running for school board must collect at least 50 valid signatures from eligible voters within the MCSD boundaries
