Marshalltown Public Works Director, Heather Thomas, was the guest for Open Forum yesterday giving an update on the Main St. Center St. Streetscape project. She first mentions the target date to finish phase 1 has been pushed back just over a week due to the rainy July.
She says when Phase 1 has the soft opening on September 6th, they will also move to start Phase 2 heading east 1 block on Main Street.
Thomas says the only change to the original plan is giving the contractor some extra time on the one block north of Main Street on Center Street. She also shares there will be a ribbon cutting to celebrate the end of Phase 1 on September 8th.
At the celebration and ribbon cutting there will be an officer from the Marshalltown Police Department giving tips on back in angled parking as all of the parallel parking will change to back in angled parking.
Thomas says the back in angled parking will create more parking spaces downtown than parallel parking. You can listen to the full conversation at 1230kfjb.com under the Open Forum tab.
