A Des Moines man and reported member of the Black P Stones criminal street gang was sentenced to 262 months in federal prison on August 27th for his participation in a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. Following an investigation of seven months, law enforcement was able to confirm Kevin Stanley Harris Jr., 44, was a high-level fentanyl dealer operating in Des Moines, and had traveled to and from Chicago, Illinois to obtain large quantities of the substance for redistribution in the Des Moines area. He was arrested in December of last year, and subsequently, 610 grams of a heroin/fentanyl mixture, 135 grams of methamphetamine, 260 grams of marijuana, as well as 19 firearms and more than $13,000 were seized. After completion of his sentence, Harris will be required to serve an 8-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
