On Saturday, the barricades moved to open up the Center St./Main St. intersection on the west and south side and blocked off 1 block east on Main St. to start Phase 2.  Today before the Marshalltown City Council meeting there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of Phase 1 on the Center St./Main St. Streetscape Project.

That is Marshalltown Public Works Director Heather Thomas who says the celebration will start at 4:30 today.  Officer Hillers from the Marshalltown Police Department will be there giving tips and tricks on back in angled parking.

This is a kid friendly event as there will be a bricks painting station.  Thomas explains where the bricks are coming from.

The Bricks will be laid out over the winter and then in the spring those landscape nodes will fill in with the plants.  There were a few summer camps that already had youth paint a few bricks.
