3pm Update

Every day the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services will give an update about Legionnaire’s Disease in Marshall County, as of 3pm yesterday there are now 34 cases of Legionnaire’s Disease.  Symptoms of Legionnaire’s Disease include, a fever, chills, non-productive cough, stomach pain, and diarrhea.  Legionnaire’s Disease is caused by a bacterium called Legionella.

It is transmitted through water droplets and water systems.  Iowa HHS believes the cluster is from North Central Marshalltown and is asking businesses and individuals to clean any water systems such as spas, cooling towers, fountains and more.

An update will be given this morning at 9am at the County Board of Supervisors Meeting.
