It was an early homecoming week for the Bobcats as they hosted the Mason City Riverhawks in week three following a full week of festivities. Mason City would get the ball first and put together a sound scoring drive before the Bobcats answered with another fake reverse kickoff return touchdown, their second in as many weeks. Unfortunately for the Cats, the positives ended there for a large part of the game. Untimely penalties, some key mistakes near the goal line, and a lack of successful defensive possessions meant this one was mostly all Riverhawks. Mason City rolled in the second half and ran away with a 42-17 win, handing the Cats their first loss of the season. Marshalltown will next head back on the road to take on the Des Moines East Scarlets next Friday night.
