Franklin Field is beginning to take shape into its final form as people have seen piles of dirt, rock, and more spread across the field all summer. Dr. Theron Schutte, Superintendent of Marshalltown Schools, says things are beginning to get exciting and it is starting to take shape.
Dr. Schutte says the turf should begin to be laid around September 22nd, weather permitting.
The plan has the first official use of the project will be the track in the spring. Dr. Schutte says this has been an exciting project and it seems even the contractors understand that.
Beyond a track and new turf field, there will be a new concession and ticket stand as well as a path from Franklin Field to the West End Park. That path should be completed sometime next year.
