As of the 3pm update Friday on the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services website, the number of cases of Legionnaires’ Disease grew to 70 in Marshall County. One death has been reported related to legionella in Marshall County since last month. The Iowa HHS is continuing its investigation into this cluster of cases in north central Marshalltown and says adults aged 50 and older who smoke or individuals with chronic lung conditions should seek medical care promptly if they develop flu-like or respiratory symptoms, including, but not limited to, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain. For more information on Legionnaires’ Disease and the symptoms and case updates, head over to the Iowa HHS website, hhs.iowa.gov.
