Announced just before the Marshalltown City Council meeting, there has now been a 2nd death related to Legionnaire’s Disease in Marshall County. The Department of Health and Human Services says an elderly adult with multiple underlying health conditions died from the disease September 18th. According to the 3pm update yesterday, there have been 71 reported cases of Legionnaire’s Disease since August of 2025. The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services says all available evidence indicates a cooling tower is the likely source of the outbreak.
