Last night the Marshalltown City Council discussed moving the Oktemberfest festival due to the outbreak. The Council Meeting started with Mayor Joel Greer reading a letter from Sydney Grewell, Marshall County Public Health Director. Grewell’s recommendation is to move Oktemberfest from the downtown location.
The Council discussed what options they had and ultimately, they voted 4-3 to allow the festival in downtown Marshalltown. Fonseca, Thompson, Mitchell, and Nichols all voted to keep things as is while Schneider, Kell, and Ladehoff voted against.
The Oktemberfest committee was in attendance and they stated they would meet after the City Council meeting and announce their plans at a later date. As of this morning nothing has changed on their website or Facebook page
