With the 3pm update yesterday, it has now been a week since a positive case of Legionella was added in Marshall County.  Oktemberfest still happened in downtown Marshalltown last weekend, Marshall County Public Health Director Sydney Grewell says there were a few things they did on the back end out of caution.

The incubation period for Legionella is 2 – 14 days so if anyone contracted the disease during Oktemberfest those cases would be showing up now.  Grewell says she has seen people say on social media that they know people who have been diagnosed with Legionella within the past week but they are not being added to the count.

She says her office will be notified if anyone who lives in Marshall County tests positive for Legionella.  If someone from outside of Marshall County contracted the disease their positive test would go to their County’s Public Health department.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services will continue daily updates at 3pm until there have been 28 consecutive days with no new cases.  With 1 week of no new cases, KFJB will continue with weekly reports unless a new case is added.
