The Marshalltown Community School District School Board has 3 goals that they finalized at the beginning of the school year.  The board will focus on improved student achievement, the board will engage in meaningful board learning and development, and the board will provide transparent, clear and consistent communication.  Superintendent, Dr. Theron Schutte, talks through the first goal.

He says there are other metrics they can use to track this like High School Graduation Rate and Chronic Absenteeism. The next goal is about board members continuing their learning experience and they have done a book study the past few years.  Dr. Schutte says not every board is committed to their own learning and growing.

The final goal for the Marshalltown School Board this year is about communication with all stakeholders.

Dr. Schutte also has 4 goals for himself as Superintendent; Develop a schedule of presentations of programs throughout the year at board meetings, Implement a 5-year strategic plan, work with Communications Director for district communication strategy, and engage with various facility projects throughout the district.
