This it the time of year when people will be doing a lot of raking, and may be wondering if they can burn the leaves. Open burning is allowed right now in Marshalltown according to Fire Chief Christopher Cross, generally during daytime hours. Cross says there are rules as to what can, and can’t, be burned.

Chief Cross says if you are planning to burn, be aware of weather conditions and your surroundings.

Open burning in Marshalltown is allowed until 7pm. Cross was Friday’s guest on KFJB’s Ask the Newsmakers.
