The Federal Government has announced that no SNAP, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, benefits will be distributed in November due to the Government Shutdown.  Food Banks and Food Pantries across the state are preparing for an increase in need as long as the Federal Government is shutdown. Cindy Staron, Board Member with the Marshalltown Emergency Food Box, reviews the rules to pick up food.  She says everyone needs to live in Marshall County.

She says households can stop by once a month and they try to give out food for 3 to 5 days.  Staron says especially with the weather cooling down, there is a specific item they are low on.

She says they are also low on their bonus items

People can stop by and donate food when they are open, 1:30 – 4:30 Monday – Thursday and 10:30 – 1:30 Fridays.
