Greg Nichols won the Ward 3 City Councilor spot when Dex Walker had to step down from his position a few years ago.  Nichols is again running for Ward 3 City Councilor and feels his voting record shows what he stands for.  Nichols supported the TIF agreement with the new Mall owners, The Shops at Marshalltown.

He reminds listeners that the Mall will be paying taxes on a base value throughout the entire 20 year agreement, but their sliding scale will affect any additional value they add to the mall. He feels the mall revitalization is big for LOST.

Nichols feels the hospital is on a path to being owned by the city, but he wants to take the right path to keep the city’s costs as low as possible.

He said a developer is being brought in to see what could be possible with the building or the lots.  Another hot topic has been roads, Nichols agrees that more needs to be done.

Nichols says City Administrator Carol Webb has a plan for resurfacing roads across town. Nichols is running unopposed in Ward 3, election day is coming Tuesday, November 4th.
