Saturday Night in Marshalltown a hit and run occurred near the corner of 3rd Ave. and E Main Street. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 30-year-old Melanie Katherine Nelson, from Marshalltown, was crossing the street around 10pm when she was struck by a pickup truck. Nelson was taken to UnityPoint Hospital in Marshalltown and pronounced deceased there. The truck fled from the scene.
