Looking ahead, it appears we are officially into fall weather and winter is right around the corner. It is time to make sure your house will keep you warm through those bitter cold days ahead. Kim Elder, Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator suggest to review your furnace and it is in working order.
If worst case scenario happens and your furnace does go out in the dead of winter, Elder suggest having emergency kits already prepped. For winter it is all about layers with blankets and coats to stay warm.
Elder says people should NOT use their stove or oven to heat their homes
Space heaters are great to keep a single room warm, but Elder says to keep everything combustible at least 3 feet from the heater.
