Yesterday was Cyber Monday, a day many consumers order gifts for family or themselves online. Those online orders will end up in front of your front door and porch pirates may try to claim your treasure. Marshalltown Police Chief Chris Jones says Marshalltown does not have a porch pirate problem, but warns that people should be cautious.
With the snow on the ground, packages are more likely to stand out when sitting on your front porch or next to your front door. Another warning Chief Jones gives when online shopping is credit card fraud. He says to make sure you are making your purchase from a trusted source.
If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. It is always good to double check those discounts by doing a search of your own to confirm the deal is legit.
