The Marshalltown Police Department made a sad announcement last night as former Police K-9, Jordy, passed away on December 11th. Jordy was 12 years old and served on the Marshalltown Police force from 2014 through December of 2020. During his career, he assisted with multiple arrests and located numerous critical pieces of evidence for prosecuting crimes in Marshalltown.
In 2015, Jordy received a regional award for “Patrol Case of the Year” for the recovery of the firearms in the stolen motor vehicle case. Jordy placed 1st overall in K-9 obedience in 2016 and 1st overall in narcotics detection, and was a member of the 1st place narcotics detection team in 2017 at the United States Police Canine Association regional canine trials.
Jordy was led during his time of service by Lieutenant Tom Watson.
