Last night was the Year-End Celebration and Recognition Event for the Marshalltown Area United Way.  This year the United Way had a goal of $900,000 a lofty goal but a necessary one.  Executive Director Kendra Sorenson has said on multiple occasions that the 900,000 number isn’t just a number, that is the amount needed to sustain the 30 programs the United Way Supports.  Sorenson shared that they currently sit at $813,132. She emphasized last night that not making goal means the board of directors will have difficult decisions when allocating the dollars next month.

Beyond the update for their goal, the United Way Recognized Emerson for their internal campaign that raised nearly $40,000.  Other organizations recognized were JBS, Marshalltown Community School District, McFarland Clinic, MARSHALLTOWN Co., and the Kiwanis Club.  United Bank and Trust was recognized for 100% employee participation.

The 2026-2027 campaign Co-Chairs were announced, Sadie Weekley and Emma Michels.
