Saturday morning around 4am, Marshalltown Police Officers were called to UnityPoint Health Emergency Room for reports of a person being treated for injuries related to assault.  Police spoke with a victim who had sustained a head injury, the victim shared that they were struck with a handgun during an incident at a Marshalltown residence.  Police spoke with other witnesses which led to a suspect and two alleged accomplices.

21-year-old Matthew Portales Jr. and 21-year-old Juliet Arabella Fernandez, both of Marshalltown, were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, willful injury, and multiple other charges.  Also arrested was 21-year-old Ethan Michael Garrett of Marshalltown for similar charges but it was his third offense with possession of a schedule II-controlled substance.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Marshalltown Police Department.
