The Marshalltown Police Department and Marshalltown Fire Department worked together to perform a rescue for a stranded dog in the Iowa River yesterday.  The Marshalltown Police Department got a call yesterday of a dog stranded in the Iowa River and officers responded immediately and searched the area.

With assistance from a Police Drone, the dog was located along the Iowa River near E Main St.  The location of the dog did not allow for the officers to safely reach the dog from the shoreline so the Marshalltown Fire Department was requested to help.  The Fire Department was able to respond with a rescue boat and retrieved the dog from the river without incident.

The Animal Rescue League also responded to the scene and took custody of the dog following the rescue.
