Brett Barker, Iowa State Representative for District 51, is on the Economic and Technology Committee.  He shared on KFJB this week that he is excited about a bill he filed in that committee which would create an affordable housing task force.

He says that committee would be tasked to take a deep dive into housing and find if there are barriers in our state or local codes. Barker admits there are different dynamics in each city, especially when comparing Iowa’s big cities to small towns.

He says there are some small towns that have done a great job with housing.

If the bill is signed into law the task force would meet during this interim and a report would come back for next session that the legislature could act on.
