There is a lot of road construction happening right now in Marshalltown and more to come with the mill and overlay project being discussed at City Council. Marshalltown Public Works Director Heather Thomas gives an update to the Main Street project.
She says while the road may be open by the end of next week, the sidewalk still needs work done and will not be finished. The block of Main Street in front of the Courthouse will have a event plaza space.
Thomas says that soil is now in and they are moving forward. While the event plaza space will not be ready for Rev Up Downtown next week, Thomas is confident it will be done by RAGBRAI July 22nd. She then discussed construction from 1st Ave to 3rd Ave.
There have been some small delays when they have found a few unknown vaults they have needed to dig out. No delay has been major so Thomas still believes this project will finish before winter. This stretch of road will not be finished by RAGBRAI.
