There are multiple programs happening on Monday, May 26th to celebrate Memorial Day. Mike Hanken has the inside scoop on multiple programs and shares details first about what is happening at the Iowa Veterans Home starting at 10:30am in the Melloy LRC.
KFJB’s Kyle Martin will be reading a poem called, “A Veteran Died Today.” Hanken then talks about an event happening at Riverside Cemetery at 1pm.
Hanken has another ceremony at the County Courthouse at 2:30pm
Hanken will end his day with a final ceremony at the Courthouse a Quilt of Valor Ceremony. Six veterans will be receiving quilts to honor their military service from the Central Iowa Quilt and Sow Society. Hanken encourages people to bring lawn chairs as there will be limited seating at some of the events.
