Louis Dreyfus Company LLC has announced its selling the business and assets of the Imperial Sugar Company to U.S. Sugar.
The definitive agreement includes a cane sugar refinery in Georgia and sugar transfer and liquidation facility in Kentucky along with consumer brands.
Officials say the transaction allows Louis Dreyfus to refocus on their sugar merchandizing business as one of the globe’s top five sugar merchandisers.
U.S. Sugar previously sold and shipped raw sugar into the Georgia refinery and the addition of Imperial Sugar will allow for expanded production and greater synergies between the companies.
