The USDA is projecting a year to year increase for U.S. sorghum acreage.

Demand for sorghum has moved higher in the past year, especially from China, which uses sorghum for animal feed and for alcohol production, both as a biofuel and for human consumption.

The USDA sees planted area at 6.94 million acres, up 18% from 2020, with acreage rising in all six of the listed production states, including a 20% jump in Kansas, the top U.S.
