A Nebraska agronomist says Mother Nature is shaping up for farmers to get back in the field. “I’ll have some guys starting the middle of this week,” Matt Oswald with ServiTech says. “We’ll be pushing it, but we’ll be all right.”
He tells Brownfield even with warmer temperatures in the forecast, producers need to wait for ideal planting conditions. “My biggest concern always is getting everything up. Making sure your soil doesn’t crust over if you plant and then it gets hot and windy and then it dries out you can get a crust on your soil surface and that can hinder soil emergence,” he says.
