Minnesota has been awarded more than $3 million to bring innovative conservation practices to irrigated land.

Ag Commissioner Thom Petersen says irrigation is critical for many farmers in the state, and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture is grateful for the USDA funding.

The money being awarded through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program will fund a five-year project that is focused on 20 counties across the state.

MDA will collaborate with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and Soil and Water Conservation Districts to help farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners implement systems that conserve water and soil resources, improve the health of wildlife habitats, and increase climate resistance.
