The USDA reports corn and soybean planting progress more than doubled in Illinois this past week.
As of Sunday, corn planting reached 54%, a jump from 23% the week before, 1% ahead of last year and five percentage points ahead of the five-year average. Emergence is in line with the average at 14%.
Soybean planting progressed to 41% complete, up from 18% the week prior, compared to only 29% at this time last year and 14% on average.
