During the next several days, unsettled weather from the mid-South to the mid-Atlantic will include heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms, with rainfall totals of 2 to 6 inches expected in many areas. A broader area, including the Midwest, Northeast, and Deep South, will experience occasional showers, with 1- to 2-inch totals possible in a few locations. Meanwhile, active weather across southern Canada will graze the northern U.S., with much-needed rain (locally 1 to 2 inches or more) possible in the north-central U.S.
