Light direct cash cattle trade has developed by midday following Tuesday’s light business across most areas.  Some deals in the South have come in at $122 live, about $2 lower than last week’s weighted averages. Asking prices are at $124 in the South but not yet established in the North.

Boxed beef is mixed at midday on moderate demand for light offerings.  Choice is $.46 higher at $292.80 and Select is $1.22 lower at $269.18.  The Choice/Select spread is $23.62. 

At the Clovis Livestock Auction in New Mexico, compared to last week there was a higher undertone noted on steers under 600 pounds.  Heifers under 600 were steady to $3 higher.
