A cold front stretching from the Northeast to the southern Plains will continue to drift southeastward, clearing the northern Atlantic Coast and settling across the South by early next week.
Additional rainfall associated with the front could reach 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts, along and south of a line from the southern Plains to Lakes Erie and Ontario. Meanwhile, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days across the upper Midwest, while only light showers will dot the drought-stricken northern Plains.
