Much of the country, including the lower Mississippi Valley, southern Plains, Great Basin, Southwest, and California, will remain mostly dry during the next 5 days.
The northern U.S. will receive spotty showers, except for higher amounts (locally 1 to 3 inches) in the Midwest. Over the next couple of days, lingering showers in the southern Atlantic region could result in additional totals of 1 to 2 inches.
Meanwhile, large sections of the country will experience rising temperatures.
