A series of disturbances crossing the northern Plains and upper Midwest could lead to some additional drought relief, albeit too late for some summer crops. Five-day rainfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches or more in portion of the upper Mississippi Valley and the upper Great Lakes region. In contrast, little or no rain will fall during the next 5 days from the Pacific Coast to the southern Plains, aside from isolated Southwestern showers associated with the monsoon circulation.
