Resistance issues have forced farmers to look beyond their typical weed management systems.
Nick Fassler is the director of technical service for BASF. He tells Brownfield, “It almost became too easy, of just using a kind of cheap and cheerful program and you had clean fields, but things have changed, we’re battling more difficult weeds today, like Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, and then even some grass species in different areas.”
He tells Brownfield one weed is too many and BASF’s Operation Weed Eradication is designed to help farmers take a more aggressive approach to weed management, “So you have excellent, you know, chemical control measures, you have your cultural mechanical practices, but the final one is the most important one, is diligence.
