A multi-day rainfall event is underway across the nation’s mid-section. Scattered to widespread showers across the central and southern Plains and continue into the weekend. Five-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 5 inches from Nebraska southward, with the highest amounts expected in Texas. Late in the week, rain will overspread the Midwest, where 1- to 2-inch totals may occur in the southern Corn Belt. Farther west, significant precipitation during the next 5 days will be confined to western Washington, while mostly dry weather will prevail from California to Montana.
