University of Wisconsin Forage Agronomist Emeritus Dan Undersander says this year’s Forage Analysis Super Bowl results at World Dairy Expo were reflective of this year’s lower quality harvest for halage and balage.
“A little bit difficulty of making hay all over,” he says.
Corn silage quality was also variable and lower in areas of drought.
“A lot of the corn silage that was produced—here it’s ok, Michigan was good, but as you go west, the droughts had a big impact on the forage quality,” he says.
