A low-pressure system crossing the western U.S. will drift northeastward, reaching the Great Lakes region by midweek and eastern Canada by week’s end. The storm’s trailing cold front will briefly become active, generating some Eastern showers on Thursday and Friday. A modest surge of cool air into the central and eastern U.S. will follow the cold front’s passage. Meanwhile, Western storminess will return late in the week, mainly across northern California and Pacific Northwest.
