A storm system traversing the Great Plains at mid-week, will rapidly intensify before reaching the upper Great Lakes region. The storm should reach peak strength on Thursday in the vicinity of Lake Superior, followed by gradual weakening and a northeastward drift. Storm-total rainfall could reach 1 to 2 inches or more in a few areas, including the upper Midwest and the Northeast. In the storm’s wake, a protracted period of cool, showery, blustery weather may hamper final Midwestern harvest efforts.
