Outside the Pacific Northwest, relatively quiet weather should prevail for much of the week. In western Washington, however, heavy precipitation could lead to another round of rising river levels, following significant flood events in mid-November and early January. During the next 2 days, rainfall could total 5 inches more in Washington, west of the Cascades. Although much of the country will experience near- or above-normal temperatures during the remainder of the week, cold conditions will persist in the Great Lakes and Northeastern States.
