Thursday, storm impacts across the nation’s mid-section will reach peak coverage and intensity. For example, snow will blanket the central Plains and Midwest; sleet and freezing rain will extend from the Ohio Valley and mid-South to the mid-Atlantic; and heavy rain may cause additional flooding in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. Heavy snow should linger through Friday in parts of the Northeast. In the storm’s wake, cool, dry weather will cover much of the country, although precipitation may linger across the South.
