Farmers are making plans A, B, and C as they face uncertainty ahead of the 2023 growing season.

Northwestern Iowa farmer Kelly Nieuwenhuis says if prices don’t back off their current levels, they are going to do things a little different next year.

“We’ve got our farms in pretty good condition as far as soil fertilities,” he said. “If the P and K prices don’t come down, we just won’t apply any next year and we’ll still be in good shape.”

He says input costs were challenging this year.
